About Me

I spent the better part of my working life doing physical work in environments where accountability wasn't optional. Trucks mostly — tankers, road trains, hazmat — across the Bowen Basin in Queensland and beyond. Places where you know what you're carrying, where it's going, and what happens if you get it wrong.

I retrained as a software engineer and graduated with a strong result. Two years in, I'm a Level 3 engineer at a major financial institution, working in post-trade payments and settlements — the part of the financial system that happens after a trade, before money actually moves. It has to work.

Outside work I build things. The truck simulator on this site started as a Processing sketch I ran at a Toastmasters presentation — people were genuinely delighted watching an AB triple navigate corners, back wheels always almost clipping the kerb. I pick up whatever interests me and follow it until I've actually done it.

I live in Sydney with my partner. We're the real users of the dinner app.
